The Dragonball Trilogy consist of three popular shows; Dragonball, Dragonball Z, and Dragonball GT. Each of these shows are based around the adventures of a man named Goku, martial arts, and the quest for 7 magical balls known as the Dragonball's. When someone puts all 7 dragonball's together they can summon a mystical dragon that will grant them one wish.
Throughout out the Dragonball Z part, which is dub to be the most popular of the three, Goku and his friends travel from on end of the universe and back to Earth fighting powerful villains and reaching unheard of levels of power.
Dragonball GT, which is short for Dragonball Grand Tour, takes place after Dragonball Z. While the least popular of shows along many fans, the show does have it's ups as well as its downs. Many fans today tend to look at Dragonball GT as a "stand-alone" series and not a part of the main story that was left in place by Dragonball Z. My belief on this is the show becomes much better if you think of it as its own show, base story from Dragonball Z.

1. Story
The story of dragonball follows an odd boy named Goku. Goku is an orphan, found in the woods by an old Marital Artist named Gohan, Gohan took Goku under his care. Goku is incredibly carefree and has become an amazing marital artist threw his training with Gohan, however Goku is an icredibly odd you boy as he has a tail! After his mentor and father figure Gohan dies, Goku lives on his own, having learned all the basic survial skills he needs threw his Marital arts training; this is until he runs into a woman, Bulma. Bulma is a 16 year old girl on a quest for the mystical Dragon Balls. There are seven Dragon Balls in total and legend has it that if you collect all 7 you get one wish for anything you want! It just so happens that Gohan, the man who raised Goku, left Goku a singel Dragonball after his passing. Goku joins Bulma in her quest and together they seek out the Dragonballs, and threw a chorse of crazy adventures, making new freinds aswell as many enemys along the way, they eventualy collect them all.
The entire series, all three of them, are loosely based around these Dragonballs. Be it finding them to wish there freinds back from the dead or trying to keep the many evils in the universe that seek them from getting there hands on these magical objects; DB - DBGT all share the common concept of these 7 Dragon Balls having a part in the plot.
2. Learn more about Dragonball
Today the old VHS tapes are getting harder to find, you may be able to find them in bargain bins or if you have money you can buy the DVD box sets/DVD disc which I would recommend. If you really want to check out some Dragonball Z quick the best new source to get watch is YouTube . There are however countless numbers of Dragonball Z Fan sites who say they have full episodes of the whole series but many of them force you to click on ads, vote for them and tend to give you lot of problems and some even dare charge you for access.
Dragonball Z comes on Cartoon Network has been airing Dragonball Z on Sundays showing mostly the Ultimate Uncut Version and then starting over. A few weeks ago I did see episodes of Cell Saga on Cartoon Network. To date no airing of Dragonball, Dragonball Z or Dragonball GT are showing on Cartoon Network in the United States but may be showing in the UK Toonami Channel still. To date Dragonball GT has not air on TV since it move from Toonami on Saturdays to weekdays until it was taken off the air in 2005.
There are countless great Dragonball Z web sites still out there, for the most part most of them are dead and so the information is incomplete, the best source would be the official sites, Dragonball.com , DragonballZ.com and DragonballGT.com
3. Why is DBZ so Popular?
Well other than the deep story and the number of character there are, the fights and simple jokes... the three series is most known for DBZ (Short for Dragonball Z) Super Saiyan Transformations. In DBZ there are three main transformations Goku and the other Saiyan's undergo. The First one is simply called Super Saiyan which Goku became in the second saga of Dragonball Z called the Frieza Saga. In the English Dub that would be the fourth saga as they broke the series down into more sagas.
The next level was Super Saiyan 2 which Goku's 11 year son Gohan became in order to destroy Cell in the third saga (Cell Saga) or the ninthly Saga (Cell Games Saga). When this level was first reach it was not called Super Saiyan 2 but ascended Super Saiyan. It wasn't until Majin Buu Saga that the level was named "Super Saiyan 2" by Goku.
The last and the most well known is Super Saiyan 3 which Goku becames in the last saga, Majin Buu Saga or the 13th saga called Majin Buu Saga. There are other transformations and even fusions that happen, all are different to the Super Saiyan form which include Super Saiyan 4 which only appears in Dragonball GT, and two fusions between Goku and Vegeta and one fusion between Trunks and Goten. In which case there are a few others show either in flash backs or in dream states.
