Trunks and BraSo lets get the obvious out of the way first. Baby Trunks and little Bra would of never come to be. That’s a given. But lets explore for a second exactly what that means. We will start with the latter, and *ahem..* Far less important first. Bra.
The second child of Bulma and Vegeta. If they never got together this blue haired wonder to man would of never been born. What would this mean? Well first and foremost – Bulma and Vegeta would have a lot more money in there bank account. Why with the shopping exhibitions of this crazed half saiyan, its enough to make anyone cry uncle. Secondly, the people behind the art work of Dragon Ball GT would have had that much more time to spend on more important things had they not had to waist time drawing one more unimportant and unused character into the background of every scene. Also, for all the tons of people who hated Bra, and all the people who argued for years before DBGT finally aired in the US as to if we should call her Bra or Bura; (yes, stupid argument… but what more can you expect from a bunch of online anime fans? No offence to online anime fans or there stupid arguments. Its what keeps sites like this alive and well ;-) ) they would have had severely more time on there hands to do better things (like visit sites like this. )
Now that the annoyance of the second child is out of the way, lets focus on the main attraction here – Trunks. This one gets pretty in-depth, alters storylines, and causes a cultural impact on the very foundation of the Dragon Ball fan base and the franchise itself! Or at the very least gives a lot of fan girls nothing to go crazy about and believe it or not in some ways means that this very site would not exist today! We will explain why in the following.
Firstly lets take a look at the storyline. If Trunks was never born that means a few different things can happen. First and foremost this means Future Gohan wouldn’t of had to of spent his time protecting Trunks from the Androids and there’s a chance he may not have lost an arm. There’s even a chance he could have (eventually) beaten the Androids! However lets assume for a minute he didn’t. There would have been no Trunks to travel back in time. This means that….a) Goku would never of gotten the medicine to cure his heart problem. He probably would have died.
b) Cell would have had no way of traveling back in time so the hole Cell Games issue would of never happened.
c) If the Cell Games never happened than Super Saiyan 2 may have never happened.
d) It also means there would have been no Trunks Saga, Imperfect Cell, Perfect Cell, Cell Games, History of Trunks VHS/DVD/Re-mastered DVD’s for us to of spent countless amounts of money on over the years (thanks FUNimation!)
Lets explore a few of these options for a minute. If Goku wouldn’t of gotten the medicine he needed its very possible he would of died (the anime tells us this.) What dose this mean? Well theoretically everything would of played out as scene in “History of Trunks.” However taking this a step further what else dose it mean? Firstly it means there would be no Goten. Goku wouldn’t have lived long enough for him and Chi Chi to get around to making a little Goten. We can get into the ramifications of no Goten some other time – but that’s one less Super Saiyan pimping around.
It means there may have been no Super Saiyan 2, Super Saiyan 3, and definitely no Super Saiyan 4. If Goku wouldn’t of been around and the hole Cell deal wouldn’t of happened then no one would of realized we needed to “reach a level beyond Super Saiyan.” The idea wouldn’t of been in anyones head. Even if by chance Goku would of stumbled upon Super Saiyan 2, would he of thought it threw enough to realize there may be a Super Saiyan 3? One things for sure, if Goku was dead then there would have been no Super Saiyan 4 as the factors surrounding were in a “heat of battle” type of scenario that he just wouldn’t of had in Other World. Now as to if this is a good thing or not… I’ll let you decide.
Now, if there was no Trunks thus no time machine then Cell wouldn’t of gotten into the past. Remember, Cell awoke, realized there was nothing for him in the future (thanks Android 17 and 18 :-D ) and found Trunks time machine. He went back in the past, he waited, absorbed the Androids so on so forth. Sure there was a bit more to in then that but I’m not here to explain the story to you. He would of gone mad. Cell came back in time because Trunks had destroyed the Androids and Cell needed them to be “perfect.” Now assuming there was no Trunks, then the Androids may of never been destroyed. Cell would of either a) absorbed them, became perfect, and finished what the Androids were doing of destroying everthing (or whatever it is the perfect evil dose with its free time?) or b) got destroyed by the Androids or that’s that. Now assuming Gohan would of already had destroyed the Androids, then Cell would of either a) been killed by Gohan, or b) Killed Gohan. Pretty safe bet here – its Dragon Ball Z, that’s how things work. Now lets assume anyway Gohan would of died at the hands of Cell. Cell would have gone insane. He can never become perfect. There’s nothing he can do about it. He either flips out and kills everyone, or becomes insanely depressed and kills himself. You decide. Now while I’ve already brought up the obvious ‘No time machine, no Cell in the past, no Cell Games’ statement. Lets examine one specific outcome of this. No Hercule. Hercule would of never become the “big hero that saved the Earth from the dreaded Cell” and all the lies and media and glory that go along with it wouldn’t of been a factor. Let us rejoice, for our hero – Hercule – is no more!
Okay, now lets assume that somehow with the fact that theres no Trunks that the timeline has shifted in a way that is helpful to everyone. Somehow the Z-Fighters manage to defeate the Androids, Goku doesn’t get sick, blah blah blah, yada yada yada, you get the idea. I hope. Firstly Vegeta doesn’t become a family man. If he doesn’t become a family man he doesn’t have all these pint up crazed ideas. Sure he would go on training and trying to beat Goku, but he would be very open and less likely to sacrifice himself. So, when the hole Buu ordeal happened – Vegeta wouldn’t be willing to become a Majin. He says himself that he had become soft, weak, “one of you;” he had no choice but to become a Majin in order to return to his old self. If he never stoped being his old self due to having a kid, there would have been no need. What dose this mean you ask?
a) The battle between Goku and Vegeta (lets face it, that’s unavoidable) wouldn’t of given Babadi the energy he needed to revive Buu because Vegeta wouldn’t of been a Majin.b) Obviously, there would be no Majin Vegeta. We will touch on why this matters later.
c) Buu would have been destroyed before waking up. Hercule wouldn’t have himself his little fat friend. Billions of people wouldn’t of been turned into candy. Obviously there would be no Uub for Goku to fight and then train at the end of DBZ. Vegeta wouldn’t of had to blow himself up. You get where I’m going with this.
d) A lot less VHS/DVD/Re-Mastered DVD’s for us to waiste our money on (Thanks FUNimation! :-D )
e) You get the idea.
Yes, the very fact that’s Trunks wasn’t born could of stopped the hole thing. As it has been in many cases, it was Vegeta’s “Price” that caused the headache in the first place. Had he just been a team player the whole ordeal may not of happened. After all, it was his choice to Fight as a Majin that gave them the energy to revive Buu. And he wouldn’t of been a Majin had he never settled down with a kid – Trunks.
Now examining the fact that Vegeta wasn’t a Majin – we have A LOT of things to discuss. Firstly – there is NO Majin Planet! Yes – you wouldn’t be viewing this website right now. That’s not to say Majin Mebs wouldn’t of created a website back in 1999 dedicated to Anime Music Videos – he may have, but it damn sure wouldn’t be called “Majin Planet” and he would definitely not be “Majin Mebs.” You could have been looking at “Vegeta Planet” right now or “Mebs DBZ HomePage!.” Being as how the first one has been used as the name for countless web pages and the latter wouldn’t make since being as how Mebs is gone – well.. it just wouldn’t be good. Yes without Trunks there would be know Majin Planet. But that’s not all… without Trunks there would be know Prince Majin Trunks! Without Prince Majin Trunks – Majin Planet would of ended back in 2002 – Darth Unrivaled would not be running Majin Planet right now. Would I still be running sites? Hard to say. Majin Planets what got me into web design, graphic design, video editing, and so many other things.
Without my old site Trunks Hope, Majin Planet wouldn’t of been able to switch servers and re-open. Why? Because Corrupted Avatar was to busy to put in the work necessary to do it – that’s why the site sat there dead for half a year.
Also and endless amount of websites just wouldn’t exist/have exisited – or atleast not under the names we knew them by. Trunks Hope, Trunks Final Flash, SSS Trunks, BlackStar Trunks, Temple O Trunks, Majin Planet, MajinXL, Planet Majin, ext. ext. ext. There are some benefits to all this however. The endless amounts of Future Trunks tributes set to “Crawling” or “In the End” by Linkin Park wouldn’t exist – severely cutting down on the number of Linkin Ball Z music videos afoot – AMV community rejoice! Also – think about just how many damn Majin Vegeta vs Goku music videos are out there. Or just how many Vegeta tributes ended in Majin Vegeta blowing himself up (I myself and guilty of this) are around? The world of AMV making would be a slightly more original place without Trunks.
While there are so many more things we can get into with this “What If,” like the end of the endless “Pan and Trunks” debates, and “What about Gotenks,” or even “Trunks would of never been in charge of the Capsule Corporation,” I feel that I have sufficiently explained my point. But fear not boys and girls – Trunks is alive and well. You can credit the simple fact that the Dragon Ball Z story, inevitably the Dragon Ball GT story, a slew of movies and specials, and a billion and two (yes, and two) websites and music videos are around, and the fact that you are viewing Majin Planet right now due to the simple fact that one night Vegeta and Bulma had a little bit too much tequila and made some bad decisions.
