Description: First things first this AMV came to me like a freight train. I had gotten hooked on the Ladies and Gentlemen song by Saliva from their video because it had the amazing Energy Drink Cocaine (now known as Censored because of the FDA) in it. I got a copy of the album and began listening to the first track, which was the song I got hooked on, and then the second track came on. I knew it had to be made into an AMV but it took me about ten more listens to start getting the idea of Samurai X for it. So I began thinking how I would create the video.
The video itself is the tale of Kenshin and his love interests in both of the OVAs. I showed them as if they were the same person and I did this on purpose. I wanted to show that Tomoe and Kaoru are basically the same person and the only two people that Kenshin has ever loved. I used the action to contrast the love story and to show that Kenshin will always be a Samurai no matter what and that is why it ends with him still fighting. I wanted to do more than just retell the story in this video, so you may need a bit of background on the Anime, if you haven’t seen it, but it shouldn’t be too hard to understand what is going on.
Editing this video was one of my more challenging feats. The reason being is that the song is very long and drawn out. I honestly considered cutting the song down to three minutes. I had to rework a few scenes, namely the last big fight scene, to make them work but I believe it turned out really well and a lot better than I had initially thought it would have. This is a bit different than my normal style and partially because I do a lot of internal scene timing, I let the scene play out and don’t do quite as many cuts. I believe it fits the song a lot better than my normal style would. Even though editing of this became a bit tedious at times I had a great time making this video and I am very pleased with the final product.
